4.  The first action to take

So you've seen enough, you want to find out how to lead the Fight for Manhood wherever you may be.  Remember, this doesn't have to be at a church, many men meet together in a group at their office, a restaraunt, or local gathering place.  Some rent space at a local hotel conference room/center.  The first thing you must know is the Fight is something that isn't to be taken lightly.  Yes, that sounds a little grandeous, but its true.  In our experience of doing this in lots of locations the biggest thing we've found is it isn't something you want to take on by yourself.  In step 2, we mentioned that we would guide you in this area first.  So, here are some "first steps" that will help:

  1. This is going to take about 5-15 minutes.  We say that NOT so you will stop and wait till you have 15 minutes to do it.  (That usually never happens) but so you will know that it doesn't take that long and you can do it right now.  Take initiative and get it done.
  2. Get a pen or pencil and a piece of paper.
  3. Take a moment to pray, ask God to provide you with a list of men that He wants you to team with
  4. Write every name down that comes to mind.  If it's one name that's ok, if its 50 that's ok too.  The number doesn't matter.  But keep writing until you go blank.  Even if you find yourself saying "nah, he wouldn't want to do this" or "that guy?  no way."  Write them all down.
That didn't take long did it?

Now that you've got that, then do this:

  1. Take that list, put it aside on your desk until tomorrow.
  2. Put on your to do list for tomorrow to get that back out.  Otherwise, you probably will forget.
  3. Then, when tomorrow comes, get it back out and pray over it again.
  4. Go down through the list and mark off any that you seem to get a sense you need to mark off.  If you don't mark one off that's ok.  Add any that have crossed your mind since the last time or that come up during the prayer.
You are done.  That wasn't hard was it?  You may already be a little anxious about the next step.  But don't play scenarios in you mind, they almost always lead to fear.
