1.  Disclaimer

This ministry was started by men working and living in the real world.  It was not started by full time ministers, psychologists, sociologists, phd's in theology, counselors, authors, seminar speakers and/or anyone like that.  If you are someone who matches those careers then don't get offended.  We aren't making fun of or saying that those are not important roles.  But we want people who want to know more about this to understand - that this was originally written and designed to be offered by men in the workplace to other men in the workplace.  It is why it connects so deeply with men.  As you might have read in our testimony section, there are many pastors and ministers who have gone through the Fight and it changed their lives.  So it is intended for all men.  The point here is, it was written and designed by men in the workplace.  That's all.

Why do we say that?  Because this is geared toward real men with real issues - Matthew 9:11-13 (New King James Version)  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”  When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’  For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Most men know that the real world is a lot different from "The Church World".  (A better term for world could be "culture".)  This is why Christians are commonly labeled hypocrites - because how they act at church is so much different from how they act in the "real world".  Fight Like a Man Ministries operates in both cultures, but The Fight for Manhood operates in the "real world" culture.  There, when men are with other men, the atmosphere is a lot different than it is on Sunday morning at church.  We want both of those cultures to combine, which means some things done within each one needs to change.  But first, we seek to meet men where they are - and for the most part, where they are is not in the "church world" culture.

The reason many ministers and pastors are surprised at the growth of the ministry is for that reason.  They can't understand how or why men will show up at 6am for something that deals with hard issues.  They can't get them to show up for an outdoorsman show and dinner much less something at 6am during the week.  We have found that the reason is - we respect men and thus reach out to them where they are and understand its not perfect but "it is what it is".

With that being said, not all people make it all the way through the Fight for Manhood series.  For many of the men who came but then quit, there are some common answers when asked why.  Below are some of those reasons why they didn't think it was for them - if any of these match up with you, don't go any further - we promise it just won't work out well.

1.  I heard someone use a bad word

2.  My life is great and I don't really have any issues (yes, people really say that)

3.  My parents were perfect and didn't make any mistakes

4.  My childhood and young adult years were perfect and I had no issues growing up

5.  I'm not ready to open up and connect with other men - that just seems kind of gay and weird.  Real men don't do that kind of thing

6.  The brutal truth is too hard for me to handle.  I know I have issues but I'd rather not have to deal with them because so far, I've gotten along just fine without doing that

7.  (For those sessions that are offered early in the morning)  I just can't get up that early once a week for 3 months
